The appetite of Indians to taste both international and indigenous cuisine has always been growing, and this year, however, Indian dishes have stayed on top of the list of most-ordered dishes, with Chicken Briyani staying on top of them all. In a survey conducted based on the order analysis done by food delivery and order app, Swiggy in major cities like Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Bangalore and Kolkata, Chicken Briyani was the most ordered item.
Among the top 5 of 2017 are Masala Dosa, Butter Naan, Tandoori Roti and Paneer Butter Masala. Though pizza was the most searched food, it wasn't the most ordered and Indians had searched pizzas 5 lakh times. The other most searched food items include burgers, chicken, cakes, and momos. December 3 was that day of the year when maximum orders were made online.
Overall, online ordering has become a common thing over years, with one of the users ordering for 1415 times in the year being the maximum. While idli, dosa are most preferred breakfast items, Indians prefer Briyani, followed by chicken, mutton or vegetable, and closely followed by Paneer Butter Masala for lunch and dinner. Most preferred snacks of 2017 include pav bhaji, French fries, Samosas, Chicken roll and Bhel Puri.
