According to sources a petition in the Hyderabad High Court had claimed that hundreds of air conditioned private travel buses that were moving around in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were registered in Arunachal Pradesh are not short of moving coffins and the petition was filed by RTC trade union leader Varahala Naidu.
Varahala Naidu claimed about the unsafe features in the design of buses which includes the expansion of the vehicle to fit in more berths in the sleeper coaches. He added the Government Order (GO) RT No.367 which was issued had allowed these illegal buses to run if they deposited tax.
Meanwhile the Arunchal Pradesh Commissioner B. Siram
had penned to all the District Transport Officers in the state and had asked
them to crackdown and also to identify on such operators who had violated the
Central Motor Vehicle Act, 1989. Moreover AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu
Naidu had also directed the transport department to seize any private travel
buses whose registrations had been cancelled.
