According to sources in a press release issued on Friday, 5 January Reserve Bank of India will soon be issuing new Rs 10 notes and moreover the new notes will be having Chocolate Brown as the base color which will be a part of the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series.



Further RBI said on the reverse side, the new notes have motif of Sun Temple, Konark, to depict the country's cultural heritage. Meanwhile the notes have geometric patterns and other designs on both the sides. The notes will have Mahatma Gandhi picture and the year will also be printed in the left hand side of the note.

Accordingly RBI added that while it is releasing new notes, it is not discontinuing the old ones, where the old Rs 10 denomination notes would continue to be legal tender. Moreover the new Rs 10 notes follow the release of new notes of Rs 50, Rs 200, which were released by the government earlier on 25 August 2017.
