The Tirumala Tirupati devasthanam (TTD) which maintains the Venkateshwara temple in Tirumala was recently a part of a criticism that involved employing non Hindus in the maintenance of the temple, and in a remedial measure, the committee has come up with a decision of making employees sport a thirunamam, establishing themselves as Hindus. It must be noted that the TTD recently expelled 44 non Hindus from devasthanam.

TTD executive officer Anil Kumar Singhal reasoned that it was a violation of a GO released in 1989 and 2007, to employ non Hindus in either teaching or non teaching roles in the devasthanam, while also making it clear that the 44 non Hindus will be shifted to other administrative jobs of AP government.

The issue had became huge, after a video of the TTD deputy executive officer Sneha Latha using the TTD car and going to the church, following which agitations began with other TTD members opposing the employment of non Hindus. Vigilance enforcement chief Ake Ravi Krishna submitted his report recently, following which the non Hindus were removed.
