Kochi sources have stated that diesel prices crossed Rs 65 per liter to reach Rs 65.57 at retail outlets in Ernakualm in the past two days. Meanwhile according to All Kerala Petroleum Traders Association secretary M.M. Basheer this is the very first time diesel prices reached such high levels. 



Accordingly the price for diesel on January 1 was in the range Rs 63.77 per liter has been climbing steadily up for the past two weeks. Meanwhile the difference between petrol and diesel is less than Rs 10 per liter as petrol costs Rs 73.61 per liter in Ernakulam district, which is comparatively high this financial year.

This drastic increase in diesel price has affected lorry owners in a massive way. Basheer said due to increase in vehicles because of transporting basic requirements for the state. Many worried as this increase in price may also increase price of many products.
