The supreme court of India has given a verdict that, in case of marriages oppressing the caste system, none including parents of the couple have the rights to question or trouble the couple, while also making it a strict order that any such acts will be considered illegal.
Village panchayats , goons settling disputes or none in the name of elders of the society or village have the rights to question or suppress the couple, and not even the parents of the couple who've married inter caste, against the caste based discrimination, have the rights or authority to control them , directed the court.
The Supreme court bench also went on
to add that, the central government must come up with a stronger and strict
laws and a legal Framework to protect married couples involving different
castes and such love marriages in general, to safeguard them and prevent Honor
killings. Failure by the central government to frame laws might cause
interference of Supreme Court, as warned by them.
