King Khan Shahrukh Khan said that he felt honored to receive 24th Crystal Award, which was also awarded to international celebs, Elton John and Cate Blanchett.The Annual Crystal Awards ceremony recognizes achievements of outstanding artists displaying an exemplary commitment to developing the world's state and is the opening event of world economic forum.
SRK had tweeted, "Honored to receive the World Economic Forum's 24th Crystal Award, together with Elton John and Cate Blanchett. My fan moment”. In his acceptance speech, Shah Rukh thanked the women in his life, sister Shehnaz Lalarukh Khan, wife Gauri Khan and daughter Suhana Khan for enabling him to see the world in a different perspective. SRK added “Actors are known to be narcissists, and though we act not believing external beauty, we are actually obsessed by it, in one way or the other. It was when I had such an obsession that I met a lady, a victim of an acid attack, who changed my life and its perspective. Disfiguring a woman is one of the crudest acts of subjugation.”
Shah Rukh also briefed on interactions with acid attack victims and said courage can come out of victims, and solidarity makes human beings to overcome pain, while also saying that equality is a truth encompassing living beings and service is a duty to be fulfilled by all. SRK received the award for his leadership in championing children's and women's rights in India. Some of the previous recipients of this award from India are Amitabh Bachchan, A R Rahman, Shabana Azmi, and Ravi Shankar.
