According to latest report like last year, the BMC may keep the budgetary allocation around Rs25,000 crore. The previous financial year (2017-18) saw the largest cut in the budget in the past 10 years. Meanwhile many infrastructure projects, namely the coastal road, Goregaon-Mulund link road (GMLR), sewage treatment plants (STPs), and Deonar waste to energy plant will find a mention again.

However, with projects like Goregaon-Mulund link road and Mulund dumping ground still volatile, the BMC is expected to reduce the allocation to such projects. Furthermore the departmental allocations, mainly roads, solid waste management and storm water drains, are also likely to face cuts.

Moreover this year’s budget is expected to focus on administrative reforms and civic amenities. A Civic official stated that “Last year, we concentrated on developing amenities on plots that are already in the civic body’s possession as per the DP. Meanwhile after the DP gets a nod, this year’s budget allocation will focus on development of amenities under the DP".
