An Indian Air Force officer was accused by an IIT-Kanpur girl student on charges of raping her repeatedly after initially promising to marry her. Circle Officer, Kalyanpur , Navin Kumar Singh said the student, in her FIR expressed that she was raped by the IAF officer at the girl’s hostel of IIT Kanpur, while adding that a case was filed under IPC sections 376 (rape), 120B (criminal conspiring), 504 (insult by intention) ,354B (criminal force with intention of disrobing women)and 506 (criminal intimidation).
The victim has also named the accused IAF officer, belonging to Saran district, Bihar, his friend, sister and brother-in-law in her FIR. Circle officer also revealed that, as the investigation is still on, no arrest has been made yet. For the purpose of recording her statements under section 164 ,CrPC, the girl is all set to be produced before magistrate.
The girl revealed that she got
close to Sitanshu through the popular social networking site Facebook before a
year, and Since then were constantly in touch through social media,
following which, before few months , Sitanshu had proposed marriage and
began visiting girl’s hostel of IIT-K frequently and had repeatedly raped
her.
