New Delhi sources have reported that President Ramnath Kovidh was emotionally charged up yesterday at the 69th Republic Day Parade in New Delhi. This has happened during the presentation of Ashok Chakra to Corporal Jyoti Prakash Nirala, a Garud Commando of the Indian Air Force (IAF) who died fighting terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile Corporal Jyoti Prakash Nirala was posthumously conferred the Ashok Chakra which is the country's highest peacetime gallantry award and his wife Sushmanand received the prestigious award from President. On that occasion, President was seen to have got emotionally disturbed for few minutes. Further the entire environment was also in remorse for few minutes. Later he went on with the presentation of other gallantry awards including 27 CBI officials.
Accordingly Corporal Nirala was part of an
offensive launched jointly by the Garud detachment and Rashtriya Rifles
Battalion in Chanderger village of Bandipora district on November 18, 2017.
