The customs department had found something fishy, in two big companies involved in importing Baby chairs and mats, and when searched, they came to know that the companies were trading sex toys in a consignment worth 79 lakhs.
Two Chennai based companies, Mahi enterprises and legend resource groups were allegedly involved in importing of adult toys and sex toys from foreign nations, and cleverly did this by hiding them in baby items, wall clock, broomsticks etc and it was uncovered by the customs department during a search, and they found that the two companies had imported them from China.
According to section 11 of customs
act 1962, any goods causing injury to public disorder or affect decency and
morality were prohibited from being imported. Now, the issue of import totally
depends on the customs as to decide as to what's obscene and what's not. While
officials send notices to companies for smaller shipments, they can arrest for
shipments worth more than 1 crore.
