After a controversial comment on Kannada by a central minister, the Karnataka BJP party itself has criticized him. The union minister of Skill Development and entrepreneurship, Anant Kumar Hegde, who's well known for his controversial talks, has once again got himself into controversy. Recently also, he had been a part of a huge controversy, landing into trouble after saying that the Indian Constitution should be modified. In such a scenario, the central minister had been a part of a function that was held at South Canara.

Intending to say something great on Kannada, Anantkumar Hegde let out words, that conveyed a totally different and negative meaning that ended damaging himself. He said that the number of people in Karnataka who know Kannada has become very less, and the people who can translate English to grammatical error free Kannada has become a rarity. He further added that the number of Kannadigas speaking proper Kannada in South Canara, North Canara and Shimoga has become very less, while the people of Bengaluru also speak more of English with the development of technology and have stopped speaking Kannada.

Having a mere educational qualification is of no use, and the Kannadigas must learn cyber protection, said the minister, which has hurt the sentiments of Kannadigas, and has also irked the Karnataka BJP. Following this, the Karnataka BJP Spokesperson Sureshkumar said that Anantkumar Hegde must take back his words, and ask for an apology, adding that every district of Karnataka has different accents of Kannada, and the minister must not have degraded Kannadigas based on that. This rift within BJP party itself has become an issue of national attention.
