The Saudi Arabian government has announced that Saudi women can start and run business, without the consent of the men in their families. Saudi Arabia is a country where king's rule still exists, and is a country with lots of restrictions for women, like not being allowed to talk to men, not being allowed to go into all the places in the country, to name a few.
However, in the administration of Prince Mohamad Bin Salman, women have been given various facilities, and as a beginning, women were given licenses to drive cars and were also allowed to watch football matches. Now, the government has also announced that Women can start their own business, without the consent of men in their family, as previously, it was a law in the country, to attach the consent letter of the men/guardian in the family, either husband or brother or father, if a woman had to apply for starting a business in the country.
However, this new law of no
necessity to obtain male consent for women to run business was announced by the
Commerce and investment ministry. With 140 new vacancies for women announced in
the Saudi airport, more than 1 lakh applications have been received. While the
current percentage of Saudi Arabian women working happens to be 22%, Prince
Mohamad Bin Salman said that he aims to raise it to 33% by 2030.
