The criminal proceedings against the highly popular Priya Prakash Varrier of the Malayalam flick Oru Adaar Love, has been stayed by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has further added to its order that no further action must be taken on the actress as well the director of the movie, Omar Lulu.
Furthermore, the court also issued restraining orders to all the states against filing of any more cases against Priya Prakash Varrier or Omar Lulu. In an ultimate victory for the team Oru Adaar Love, the Supreme Court has quashed all the 4 complaints made against the actress and director, as well the FIR filed on them for hurting sentiments of Muslims, through the song Maanikya Malarayi Poovi.
The bench which was
headed by Chief justice Deepak Mishra, Chandrachud and Khanwilkar, dismissed
the cases, which were filed after several Muslim outfits mistook the song for
offending Islamic sentiments. Though there were no cases filed against Priya
Prakash Varrier in Kerala, the FIR was from Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra was
where the 4 complaints were filed.
