Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is learnt to have dismissed the demand put forth by the Bharatiya Janata Party for creating a second capital in Rayalaseema.Naidu had a meeting with the TDP leaders at Vijayawada in the morning before leaving for Visakhapatnam, in which he said there was absolutely no meaning in the demand.

“They should remember I am also from Rayalaseema region. Who has more interest in developing the region than me? Let us not rake up demands for the sake of petty political gains,” he said. He said the so-called Rayalaseema declaration is not an official document of the BJP state or national level units.

“It was the demand of a few leaders from the region. Unless it has an official endorsement, let us not give it any importance,” the chief minister said. The TDP chief, however, asked the party leaders not to react too much on the BJP leaders’ criticism. “If they raise any issues pertaining to the state, let us rebut the same. But let us not make any personal attacks against them in the name of rebuttal,” he suggested.
