Before a year, the situation was that Prime Minister Modi can never be defeated in elections. With the huge victory in the Uttar Pradesh elections, the chances for BJP had become even stronger. However, the situation did not continue further, as BJP had won only by a smaller margin the Gujarat elections, followed by the defeat in the Rajasthan elections, which has slimmed the chances of a BJP victory in the 2019 elections.

In a recent survey conducted by ABP News company, it has been declared that the chances of BJP winning, are reducing. This fall can be explained with the help of Misery Index, which was used in US to explain how economy had an impact on the Presidents of US. This survey was based on the economy, inflation, non food credit growth. The misery index is done on a scale of 0 to 100, with 100 being the most troublesome rule for people. While the misery index during the congress rule varied between 50 to 57, the misery index during the NDA rule has been an average of 64, which is higher than congress.

With the increase in Misery index over the past few months, and with people not in favor of the measures and the rule of BJP and Modi, it has been expected that the misery index will grow further higher, impacting Modi's chances of winning 2019 elections. However, Modi and BJP can change this situation if they can improve the employment opportunities and the economy of the country.
