The tense war situation in Syria has been primarily attributed to the family politics in the country. While this war started in 2012 itself, it has now reached extreme levels. There has been a revolutionary group against the rule by President Bashar Al Assad, and constant wars between the rebel outfits and the Syrian government. With this war reaching peaks, almost 700 people have lost their lives in Syria in the past 9 days alone. While Syria was announced a republic in 1936, it attained independence in 1946 after the Second World War, and till 1950, different governments were ruling the nation.

In 1960s, with Hafeez Al assad ascending to the throne, the other parties that ruled were dissolved and he started running a military regime. However, with his rule, the tension between Shias and Sunnis were constantly on the rise and when Hafeez planned to make his brother Riyath the president, but it was later identified that he had been acting against the nation, following which he was sent on exile. Basal, son of Hafeez also faced a tragic death, when Hafeez planned to make him the president.

Following the tragedy, Bashar came to rule, and he made the tension between Shias and Sunnis rise, and with a father and son ruling the country for a total of 48 years (30+18), the country faced severe economic crisis, without proper food or medical facilities, the country had turned into a poor nation. And it was after such a situation that the war began, and in this war, already 491369 people have died, and US has declared that the count might reach 5 lakhs. It must be noted that war has reached extreme tense levels in Bashar's home town currently.
