Chennai sources have made a statement that Karti Chidambaram, son of former Finance Minister P Chidambaram, has been arrested at Chennai airport by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Meanwhile the 47 year old Karthi was held on Wednesday morning after getting off a flight from London, UK. Earlier the residence and offices of Karti, who appeared before CBI in INX media money laundering case in August 2017, was raided by CBI for several times.
Presently the CBI hasn't confirmed the arrest of Karti, national media channels are putting up the news that he was taken to Delhi by CBI team by yesterday evening. Previously Karti got the Supreme Court's approval to fly out of the country despite the strong objection from CBI officials.
Meanwhile, CBI took his charted accountant S Bhaskaran into custody from a five-star hotel and conducted fresh searches in three areas of Chennai relating to his contacts. Further according to sources Karthi is being faced with strong allegations of receiving a bribe of Rs 3.5 Crores from Mumbai based INX media for Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) approval.
