According to sources the immortal water war between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh resumed on Wednesday when the former stopped the release of Krishna River water to the latter. Earlier on Wednesday, the irrigation officials from AP and Telangana had a verbal war at Nagarjuna Sagar over sharing of Krishna water. Accordingly the feud was triggered when the Telangana officials stopped the release of water to the right canal of the dam which flows into AP.
As per report in their defense, Telangana irrigation officials said they had stopped the water after the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) issued a letter to them stating that AP had exceeded its quota of water. They accused the truncated state of drawing more than its share of water. Further the AP irrigation officials on the other hand claimed they had actually received less than the allocated quota of water and demanded the immediate release of water.
Accordingly to reinforce their power during the
verbal war at Sagar, the officials from the two states summoned police
personnel from Nalgonda (Telangana) and Guntur (AP) respectively. Currently
they have lodged complaints on each other by the end of the day, and the
deadlock hasn't been resolved yet.
