Samajwadi Party defeated Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh and it also achieved a win in Gorakhpur as well. Samajwadi Party's Nagendra Pratap Singh Patel won Phulpur Lok Sabha seat by 59,613 votes.

After this shocking defeat, UP CM Yogi Adityanath who spoke to the press said, "We totally accept this defeat and it is unexpected too. We will review the loss and we will overcome the shortcomings. I heartily congratulate the winners." Both Gorakhpur and Phulpur seats were left by Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath and his deputy Keshav Prasad Maurya after their entry in April 2017.

Now as they lost this is a big blow for BJP. Yogi held Gorakhpur since 1998 and he even became the youngest MP at 26 years. As we can see, there are no enemies and friends in politics,  the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party came together and stopped BJP this time. RJD won the Araria Lok Sabha bypoll by 61,988 votes.
