In the recent Economic Intelligence Unit Survey, three of the Indian cities, New Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai have featured among cheapest cities of the world, in the list that also has Singapore as the expensive city among all. Though India is expected to witness rapid economic growth, but with minimal wages, low spending on household items and pricing, the Indian cities are featured in cheapest cities of the world. 

 


Syrian capital Damascus has been named the cheapest city in world, while the second and third positions are held by Caracas, Venezuela's capital, and Kazahkstan's Almaty. While Lagos is in the 4th place in the list, Bucharest at 9th, Karachi at 6th, and Algiers is at number 7, Indian cities that feature in the list are Chennai at 8th position, New Delhi at 10th, and Bengaluru at 5th position.

Singapore was named the most expensive city for the fifth consecutive time, with Paris in second position, Zurich at third spot, and Hong Kong at number 4.  The list includes Oslo at number 5, followed by Geneva, Seoul, Copenhagen, Tel Aviv and Sydney. This survey is based on more than 400 individual price ranges and 160 products inclusive of food, transport, schools, clothes, and household items.
