After a Kerala based professor's talks on women failing to properly cover themselves and letting breasts hang like watermelons, protests have erupted across the state. Professor Jouhar Munnavir of Farook engineering college, had made the speech, following which the students of the college made a watermelon March, calling them SFI and holding watermelons in their hands and walked towards the gate.
Now women have also taken it to social media to post images of topless women holding watermelons in their hands. Two Kerala based women went topless and posted in Facebook those photos, as an act of protesting the professor's remarks. Arathy, a 25 year old woman posted her nude photo, which was also shared by her husband on Facebook, as she was irked by hyper-sexualization of breasts and even photos of mothers’ breastfeeding getting too much negative response.
Another student Diya Sana posted
nude photos of a woman with watermelon, but Facebook removed those photos and
blocked the users too. The professor had reportedly made the remarks in a
family counseling. He had said that women are showing their chests through
hijab and showing it like watermelons.
