New Delhi sources stated that as per reports one BSP MLA, Anil Singh, has already cross-voted for BJP taking it closer to its target. Meanwhile the country's most populous state sends 31 MPs to the 245 member Rajya Sabha, and the BJP, which won a massive victory in the 2017 Assembly elections, is yet to get a lion's share of these.



Sources reported that a total of 33 candidates have already been elected unopposed. Earlier in Maharashtra six candidates have been elected unopposed after the BJP withdrew its fourth candidate. According to sources three seats have gone to the BJP and one each to Shiv Sena, Congress, and NCP.

Meanwhile Arun Jaitley is among many political leaders set to be re-elected. Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar’s term comes to an end. On March 22nd the court denied permission to two MLAs, one from the BSP and the other from the SP from voting. Further in a statement following this, BSP has mentioned that it will challenge Lucknow High Court's order allowing 2 jailed MLAs to vote for the Rajya Sabha polls. Moreover according to the Election Commission, voting will be held from 9 AM to 4 PM. Counting of votes will be taken up from 5 PM.
