Chennai sources reported that even as the deadline to set up the Cauvery Management Board expires at 5 pm on Thursday, actor turned politician Rajinikanth urged the Centre to implement the Supreme Court’s order. Meanwhile in a tweet, Rajinikanth said, “With regard to the Cauvery issue, the only acceptable, just solution is the setting up of the Cauvery Management Board as per the Supreme Court's verdict and he sincerely hope justice will prevail.”



Meanwhile Rajinikanth’s views come even as the Tamilnadu government is reviewing options before the Supreme Court in a meeting at Fort St George. Further as per reports Tamilnadu government intends to file a contempt of court petition at the Supreme Court on March 31. Moreover the apex court is on leave on Thursday and Friday on account of Mahavir Jayanthi and Good Friday.

Further the leaders in Tamilnadu have slammed the Centre for its delaying tactics to appease the people of Karnataka even as elections are due in May. Meanwhile in his first criticism of the BJP-led government at the Centre, Rajinikanth had previously in March said, "The Supreme Court has passed an order on CMB but the Centre is delaying it and so the Tamilnadu government must exert pressure on the Centre for its formation as early as possible."
