Over the past 1 week, Governor Banwarilal Purohit has been the talk of the town, and had become a part of a huge controversy after he had patted the cheek of journalist Lakshmi Subramanian in a press meet last week. While several sections of media have called her reaction as an exaggerated reaction, some have considered Lakshmi's act as the right one. Some of the reasons quoted to defend the governor over the past one week are as follows.
Some have called it as a grandfatherly touch, which by no means is justifiable, as none have the rights to touch anyone without their permission. The second reason said is that the journalist is overreacting, but the case is that a journalist has the right to question and the governor could have either answered or left, but it wasn't right to have patted her cheek.
Some have also branded her as a fake
feminist craving for attention, while some have said that he's of her
grandfather's age and shouldn't be taken in bad light, while some have shown
their outburst that now it will never be possible for anyone to even shake
hands with a female journalist. With such Statements, people have only been
increasing the tension prevailing in the issue.
