The prices of petrol and diesel have reached an all time high now. In Delhi, the price of 1 litre of diesel costs Rs 63.51 and in Mumbai it costs 69.54, and in Chennai, 68.90 RS. Even the price of petrol has reached a highest point in past 55 months. According to the official notification given by Indian oil in their official website, the price of petrol in Delhi is currently at 74.08 per litre, and this has surpassed the previous Highest which was in September 2013. 

 


The prices of petroleum and oil has been constantly increasing in the world market, and in March, the price of petrol had increased by 50 paise and diesel by 90 paise, and in the start of the year, the prices of petrol and diesel had increased by RS 4 and RS 5-6 per litre. Former union minister P Chidambaram has blamed the central government lead by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not being able to control the price rise and not taking any action in this regard.

He further went on to say that in the past 4 years, the BJP has been struggling and also doesn't possess even the knowledge of a school kid to understand that it is the tax imposed by BJP which is impacting the common man. With the increase in price of petroleum and oil products, it had been expected that there will be an increase in prices of essential commodities sooner.
