Amaravathi sources stated that in a shocking revelation by Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) it came to light that five TDP leaders are involved in cases relating to atrocities and assault against women. Among the five leaders, two are ministers in the ruling TDP cabinet while three others are MLAs. Four of them were involved in harassment of women, while another was involved in an attempt-to-rape case. TDP, these statistics reveal, stands in the fourth position in the country in atrocities against women in political parties.



ADR compiled the data after going through the election affidavits filed by MLAs and MPs, and released list of people who were involved in atrocities against women. According to the report, persons involved in harassment cases were Andhra Pradesh minister Devineni Umamaheshwar Rao; another TDP cabinet minister, Acham Naidu; MLAs Chintamaneni Prabhakar and Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy.

The fifth person was MLA G Suryanarayana, who was involved in an attempt-to-rape case. Suryanarayana, according to ADR, was facing cases under IPC sections of 376, 506, 511, 379, 366 and 324. Controversial MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar was an accused in total 23 cases of women harassment. Among them there are 13 cases which were of serious nature.
