The election commission has denied offering the twin leaves symbol to the AIADMK candidates contesting in Karnataka state assembly elections. The Karnataka state assembly elections are scheduled to be held on May 12, and the counting of the same will be held on May 15.

 


Of these state election constituencies, AIADMK candidates are contesting in Bengaluru's Gandhinagar, Hanur, Kolar districts gold fields. The applications for allocation of symbols for contesting in elections and their subsequent scrutiny and allocation process took place. The AIADMK candidates had demanded the twin leaves election symbol for their party in Karnataka.

However, the election commission has dismissed the AIADMK petition demanding the twin leaves symbol. The election commission has said that, the petitions had not been filed on time, and also on the grounds that AIADMK is not a recognized party in Karnataka. The election commission has further explained that, AIADMK is a recognized political party in Tamilnadu and Pondicherry, but not in Karnataka.
