While there were widespread accusations that there were lots of issues and scams associated with voting conducted using electronic voting machines used in recent elections, it has been said that such accusations won't be arising in the upcoming Karnataka state assembly elections.

New model electronic voting machines are going to be used in the elections with advanced features. In previous elections it was said that the ruling party had technical hacks to make use of Bluetooth to make sure votes are cast in their party symbol, even if cast actually by voter for other parties. In the upcoming Karnataka elections, 3rd generation EVMs will be used.

The EVMs will make use of Mark 3, in the RR Nagar, Samrajpet, chikpet, Sivaji Nagar, Gandhinagar, and Rajaji Nagar constituencies. In 1800 booths, 2700 EVMs will be there with 2250 monitoring equipments, and 2350 vote confirmation machines installed. Mark 3 can control 24 EVMs at a time, which is a total of 384 voters. Since Mark 3 is advanced it'll repair by itself in case of software failure as well and hence cannot be attacked by virus too.
