According to sources the National Film Award presented by the union government is the highest award that honors excellence in the field of film making. Meanwhile the presentation ceremony for the 65th National Film Awards was held at New Delhi this evening. However, the awards ceremony has turned controversial because of an issue.
Media reports that around 65 award winners have skipped the presentation ceremony as the President of India Ram Nath Kovind will reportedly give away the awards to only 11 winners. Moreover all the winners who have boycotted the ceremony alleged a breach of the 64 year old tradition where the President gives away awards to all the winners and not a select few.
After the President's exit, most of the awards are
handed over by the I&B Minister Smriti Irani, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore
and Narendra Kumar Sinha. From Tollywood, Baahubali The Conclusion had won the
Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment award, while Ghazi won the
Best Regional Film (Telugu) award.
