Despite a Tamil population of more than 1 crores in Karnataka, the fact that the BJP has not fielded even a single Tamil candidate in the upcoming Karnataka state assembly elections has invited another controversy for the party. In Karnataka totally only 4 Tamils, namely Congress Party's Sampathraj, Janata Dal's Baktahvatchalam, Aam Aadmi party's Renuka Viswanathan and Ilangovan have been contesting.
The lefts and Bharatiya Janatha Party have not fielded even a single Tamil candidate in the whole of Karnataka. After the 2009 elections, it was the Tamils who had been voting in favor of the BJP, and even in the 2014 Loksabha elections, it was Tamils who had given BJP the chunk of votes. However, ever since they formed a government at the centre, the BJP has been looking at Tamils like untouchables, and have been denying Tamils of their rights and suppressing them.
In almost 40 constituencies
including Kolar Gold fields, Mysore, SamrajNagar, Tamils have been the supreme
deciding power in election victories. Despite this fact, the BJP has never
cared of the Tamils and have not even given them an opportunity to contest
elections. With this situation increasing the hatred against BJP, the chances
of BJP winning the elections are turning low.
