The Indian Premier League Chairman Rajeev Shukla has announced that, the IPL 2018's playoffs and the final matches will start as early as 7 pm. Initially when the television broadcasters and media partners had pitched the idea of having the playoffs started by 7 pm itself; the IPL management had turned down the idea.

However, it has been said the Shukla that the decision has now been made by the IPL management to conduct the matches by 7 pm itself, keeping in mind the welfare of fans who throng to stadiums to watch the matches. This has been done keeping in mind that starting the match an hour later by 8 pm would result in the match ending late night thereby affecting the schedule of match audience including students and working people for the next day.

As said by Shukla, the 8 pm scheduling not just impacts the next day schedule of fans who visit the stadium to watch the matches, but also the fans who watch in TV. Playoff Qualifier 1 will be played on May 22 at Wankhede Stadium, and the Eliminator on May 23 and 25 will be played in Eden, while the final will be layed in Mumbai.
