BSNL has decided to step up and provide all features on mobile handsets to landlines. So, how is this possible? The landline calls can now be attended or cut on mobile handsets and one can ensure they are not missed when they are off-premises.
The initial upgradation is happening at BSNL Telephone exchange in Rajasthan and the landlines can work like smartphones here. They have also enabled SMS, Chats, Video Calls. The exchanges are being upgraded with Next Generation Networking (NGN) technology and the work has started in Bundi district.
The Telecom district manager (TDM), Bundi B.K Agarwal said, "We are upgrading the technology and this work will be done in the next few days. All the facilities on the mobile phone will be available now on landlines too. The landline will be upgraded with an IP Address to avail these facilities."
