Congress is confident that the Food security Bill will do the trick for the party in 2014 and also bring it back as UPA-3 govt . The Scheme cost a whopping Rs.1.25 lakh crore but Finance MInister Chidambaram has made provision for same by effecting a 25 percent cut in the last budget spending . The only hitch is that themain opposition BJP and other parties want the scheme but with some amendments as the state governments will be hit heavily .
The lacunae is that centre would make provision for spending only on poverty criteria as per the planning commission statistics byt the States who have launched massive welfare schemes on their own poverty criteria will have to huge difference from their pockets which they are resenting. ' If centre wants to impliment the anti-poverty program, they should do so completely and not half hearted manner.
