NDA Candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh has won the election with 125 votes and has been elected as Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman. He won against BK Hariprasad. BK Hariprasad just managed to get 105 votes.
Indian Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi congratulated him following his victory as Deputy Chairman. PM Modi who addressed the house after the election said, "I congratulate Harivansh ji on behalf of the whole house. He is blessed with the talent of writing and he was also the favorite of former PM Chandrashekar ji."
It was just an easy win for NDA after Telangana CM KCR also assured the support to the ruling government. Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) however refrained from all the proceedings.
