Former Indian Test Captain and Chief Selector Ajit Wadekar took his last breath at Mumbai's Jaslok Hospital. He was suffering from prolonged illness and he took his last breath due to age-related ailments. The Hospital sources said, "Mr.Ajit Wadekar was declared dead at Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre. He was unwell for a long time and was getting treated for the same."



Ajit Wadekar is a prominent Left Hand Batsman who will always be remembered for India's historic wins against Windies and England in 1971 under his captaincy. Wadekar made his test debut in 1966 and he has scored 2113 runs including 14 fifties and a lone century in the 37 test matches he played during his 8-year career span.

Wadekar also was India's first ODI captain and he just played 2 ODI's in his whole career. Wadekar also worked as India's Manager when Mohd Azharuddin was Indian team captain. Team APHERALD prays for his noble soul to rest in peace!
