DMK chief Kalaignar M Karunanidhi had passed away on August 7, at the Kauvery hospital, Chennai following health deterioration, and following his sudden demise, DMK is all set to witness many changes, the first of which will begin with the election to be held for selectively of the party president and the treasurer. The general body meeting of DMK party will be held on August 28, during which the election for the roles will be held.
With the nominations for the roles planned today, early morning, MK Stalin hadwent to Karunanidhi's memorial and placed the nomination papers and paid respects, besides senior leader Duraimurugan had also placed his nomination papers.
Duraimurugan had reached Arivalayam, and on the other end, Stalin and Duraimurugan were blessed by Dayalu Ammal. With support from 65 district secretaries, Stalin had filed nomination for the post of party president, and while members like H Raja had said he'll be elected unanimously as president, Duraimurugan had filed his nomination to party secretary RS Bharathi. Duraimurugan has said that he could not comment on his selection for the post of treasurer, and the result will be knownonly day after tomorrow.
