Accordingly as fuel prices skyrocket across the country, one couple from Cuddalore was given petrol on their wedding by friends as a gift. Elanchezian and Kanimozhi got married on Sunday morning in Cuddalore district’s Kumaratchi. Meanwhile the friends of the groom who attended the wedding handed over five litres of petrol to the couple as a present.
Reports added Prabhu, a student of Chennai’s Nandanam Arts College and Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) member, gifted the newlyweds a can filled with petrol. Furthermore he told that this was an effort to create awareness on the rising prices of fuel across the country. He said “Fuel prices are rising steeply across the country and so, some of Elanchezhian’s friends including him, decided to present the couple with petrol and alert the people about the valuable product.”
Moreover Elanchezian and Kanimozhi were greeting guests at the wedding
venue, when his friends came in and gave them this peculiar gift. Further another
friend of the couple, Deepa, said “Since the fuel prices were surging for
the last few weeks, we wanted to bring it to the fore how a common man had been
getting affected due to the hike and hence the couple felt happy after
receiving our gift.” Presently the petrol prices have reached Rs 85.15 per
litre in Tamilnadu, which are an all time high for the state.
