Global software giant Microsoft has acquired  mobile major Nokia which was facing business ups and downs for last three years in a complete deal worth $7.17 billion in cash including its devices, patents and mapping assets

Steve Ballmer, Microsoft chief executive officer who is retiring within the next 12 months says that approximately 32,000 people are expected to transfer to Microsoft, including 4,700 people in Finland and 18,300 employees directly involved in manufacturing, assembly and packaging of products worldwide.including 1500 Indian staff .  As part of the deal Lumia handsets with sales of 7.4 million units in 2013 are shifted to Microsoft and Nokia phones will have Window 8 platform
