According to sources Chennai will witness rains for the next two days while north Tamilnadu and Puducherry will see heavy rainfall in one of two places for the next three days, said the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). Reports added Tamilnadu will also witness moderate rainfall in many places.



Meanwhile when speaking to TNM, IMD Chennai Director Balachandran said, “It is still a well-marked low-pressure area over southwest Bay of Bengal. It is not going to become a depression.” Furthermore the Met Department has issued a warning to fishermen to not venture out into the sea and a wind warning has also been issued, with squally winds touching 60kmph along Tamilnadu and south Andhra coasts.

Moreover the Met Department issued a heavy rainfall warning for the delta districts on Wednesday, stating, “Scattered heavy with isolated very heavy rain is likely to occur over Kancheepuram, Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, Pudukottai, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Karaikal, Ariyalur, Tiruvarur and Thanjavur districts.” Hence according to IMD, Karaikal received the highest rainfall at 68.9 millimetres in the last 24 hours. As per report Chennai district received 15mm of rainfall, with Meenambakkam receiving 60mm and Nungambakkam receiving 20mm.
