People have been happy for the extension of the services of Pon Manickavel and have been celebrating the same by lighting crackers. Yesterday's hot news in the political fraternity and law and order happens to be Pon Manickavel. It was actually planned that he was about to retire yesterday.
At one end, there was lots of help done to him to enable his retiring, while at the other end, people were worried that his tenure has come to an abrupt end. However finally the order has been passed to extend his services as well. People of two districts are very happy with this decision and they happen to be Thanjavur and Kumari.
Earlier as he was retiring, at the Thiruvazhamarban temple special pooja was conducted, and all the people of the locality conducted and participated in the pooja to offer prayers for his well being. Later as his tenure was extended, people of Kumbakonam burst crackers and celebrated this. Crackers were burst before Hindu Makkal katchi office, as Pon Manickavel has said his first target itself is Kumbakonam.
