Art of living founder Sri Sri Ravishankar has said that with the help of court, an order will be obtained and his planned meditation program will be conducted in Thanjavur Periya Kovil temple itself. On behalf of art of living foundation it was planned to host meditation programs on Fridays and Saturdays on the premises of Thanjavur Periya Kovil itself.
However there was a huge opposition against this saying that a UNESCO cultural heritage site cannot be used for religious activities and that it was against culture. An advocate Muthu Krishnan had filed a case seeking a ban following which Chennai high court had imposed a stay on the program.
With all the arrangements removed the program was conducted in another hall, but however Ravishankar has said that it is surprising to ban a Hindu event in a temple and that he'll seek court order to conduct upcoming events in Thanjavur Periya Kovil itself.
