Yesterday, the late former DMK Chief M Karunanidhi's statue was unveiled at the Anna Arivalayam in Chennai, and besides, the already installed statue of Anna was also renovated. Congress senior leader Sonia Gandhi had arrived to the event and inaugurated the statue, and the event was graced by the Chief Ministers of three states, Chandrababu Naidu, Pinarayi Vijayan and Narayanasamy.
Besides, celebrities like Superstar Rajinikanth, Kushboo, Shatrughan Sinha, Vairamuthu also participated in the event, and speaking to the press, Superstar Rajini said that he felt it as a pride to be present at the unveiling of Karunanidhi statue.
Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi had paid tribute to Karunanidhi at his memorial in Marina, and Sonia Gandhi also released a book titled Sun never sets, at the YMCA grounds event. Rahul Gandhi, before leaving the stage, had captured a photo of the Karunanidhi statue on his mobile.
