Hyderabad sources reported that in view of the winter, arrangements have been made for the captive wild animals, birds and reptiles to protect them from the cold winds in Nehru Zoological park, Hyderabad. Accordingly room heaters have been arranged in all the enclosures housing the big cats like Tiger, Jaguar, Cheetah, Leopard, even Lions, and primate enclosures housing the Sacred baboon, Olive baboon, Chimpanzee and Lion Tailed Macaque etc. All the carnivore night houses have been covered with gunny bags to avoid a cold wave to protect them from pneumonia.



As per report all the birds’ night houses have been covered with green cloth and nest boxes have been provided particularly in enclosures housing Macaws and Cockatoos. Furthermore small monkeys like Squirrel monkeys and Golden handed tamarin monkeys have been provided with small wooden boxes with dry paddy straw and a room heater in the night house.

Reportedly all the night houses of reptiles have been provided with dry leaves, bulbs and small pots to protect them from the cold wind. Moreover the animal houses of mouse deer breeding centre have been covered with green cloth outside and dry paddy straw inside.
