According to sources its official now Banswada MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy has been appointed as the speaker of Telangana assembly and here is a brief info about him. Meanwhile in the year 1976 he stepped into active politics but Pocharam had to wait 18 years to get MLA ticket. Earlier in 1994, he got elected as MLA for the first time and four years later he became minister.
Furthermore in Chandrababu's cabinet, he was the housing minister and in the subsequent years he served as minister for mines and Panchayatraj. Previously in 2004, Pocharam lost to Bajireddy Govardhan who was then in Congress (now in TRS) and in 2009, Pocharam reigned Banswada. Moreover in 2011, Pocharam resigned to his MLA post and joined TRS. In the by-election, he got re-elected and in 2014, he won with a thumping majority from Banswada.
Moreover he was instrumental in introducing schemes such as 'Rythu Bhima' and 'Rythu Bandhu' though major credits were gone to KCR. Accordingly Pocharam Srinivas Reddy is the senior most among the TRS party and so the Telangana CM preferred him as many are not ready to take the speaker position.
