Hyderabad sources reported that the GHMC has decided to provide special lighting in such a manner that it would be visible from high rise structures located far away from the monument. Meanwhile the civic body will fix octagonal poles to illuminate miners in three levels. Reportedly according to civic body officials, the Archaeological Survey of India maintains the special lighting inside the iconic structure.

Furthermore the octagonal towers would come up on four sides of Charminar and illuminate it with 190 watt LED lights at three levels. Reportedly the lights would automatically go off at dawn and get switched on at dusk. As per report a senior GHMC official that GHMC commissioner M. Dana Kishore had repeatedly instructed the planning wing to set up special lighting for the monuments but the officials had ignored them.
