Over the year there were numerous complaints on bank theft cases and more than 100 cases were filed and this lead to arrest of 7 people last month in Chennai, and recently the main culprit and the head of gang named as Vyasarpadi Johnson was arrested. Lots of mobile phones, ATM cards and more than 25 lakhs money were obtained from them.
It was found on investigation that the gang had been recruiting telecallers posing as fake BPO company and employed more than 500 people and trained them all to talk to public and collect all their details, ID Proofs, Aadhaar, PAN and even ATM card details and using CVV number on card, made duplicate cards and did transactions to rob money from accounts.
It has been said that this gang has so far stolen more than 500 crores from various accounts. The cyber crime department is working to get rid of these miscreants.
