For the Lok Sabha elections, ADMK ruling Tamilnadu and BJP which rules the centre have joined hands, and in the alliance, BJP has been offered 5 seats by ADMK party, and the alliance also has PMK as a part of it. After many rounds of discussions and negotiations, the deal was struck when finance minister Piyush Goyal had arrived to Tamilnadu and met CM Edappadi Palanisamy and Deputy CM O.Panneerselvam.

Of the 5 constituencies allocated to BJP, the party has been demanding seats in places like Kanyakumari, South Chennai, Coimbatore and Trichy. In such a situation, minister Pon Radhakrishnan has said that if BJP is given Kanyakumari, he will only contest in the constituency. As of now no party split up has been given perfectly in the DMK - Congress alliance and hence there was a delay.

While usually when asked if they are contesting elections any politician will say that it depends on party high command, while Pon Radhakrishnan openly declaring that he will contest in Kanyakumari has given surprise and shock to many in the political fraternity.
