Chennai sources stated that the AIADMK-BJP combine is gearing up for a massive meeting in Chennai on March 6 to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Meanwhile this will be the first rally in which the leaders of the BJP allies would share the dais. Furthermore this joint rally will be Mr. Modi's second meeting in the state within a week. Reportedly on March one he would visit Kanyakumari from where the Union minister of state for finance and shipping Pon Radhakrishnan had won in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.



Accordingly Mr. Modi would lay the foundation stone for the restoration of the rail connectivity between Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi for 17.20 km at a cost of Rs 208 crore besides another project reconstruction of bridge no. 346 Pamban Viaduct for Rs 250 crore. BJP state president Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan said "On March 6, we have planned a massive rally in Chennai and it will be addressed by our Prime Minister. Leaders from the AIADMK and PMK would also address".

Moreover Tamilisai Soundararajan said this will be the first joint rally of the NDA leaders after their alliance was announced on February 19. Further despite an appeal by Mr Radhakrishnan not to stage black flag demonstrations, the MDMK has threatened to stage black flag agitation when Mr Modi visits Kanyakumari and Chennai. MDMK general Secretary Vaiko when speaking to reporters at the airport said about Dr Tamilisai Soundarajan's remarks that agitations were a waste, that she had all the freedom to express her views.
