Washington sources reported that at the beginning of 2019, US president Donald Trump announced that he is fine with India's decision of reducing the import tariff from 100 to 50 per cent on Harley-Davidson motorbikes. Meanwhile during the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, Trump said that India is a very high tariff nation and the country charge the US quite a lot and hence, he needs a reciprocal tax in return.

Furthermore when speaking on tax, he also raised the topics like domestic and global relationships with India. Reportedly he said that when the US sends a motorcycle to India, it is a 100 per cent tariff and usually when India sends a motorcycle to the US, they don't charge them anything.

Moreover he demands a reciprocal tax or to say the least, wants to charge a mirror tax. He added that other countries are imposing high taxes on America and therefore, it is their time to reciprocate. Accordingly for India, he wants to charge 25% instead of 100 in support to the country and he also added that America is highly prosperous and rapid when compared to other countries which are poor in the state.
